Composição de: Robin Williamson

D A
Last winter blew so cold no lies,
        D E A
And my fire smoke would not rise
D G D
Soon as the smoke had tried to depart,
        G A D
It'd be froze up harder than a landlord's heart.

[Verse 2]
D A
I called up the police, yes and they came round,
   D E A
Three days later and very brought down.
     D G D
The sergeant he gave this hysterical croak,
        G A D
Says, "What do you think you have going here, some kind of a joke?" (Of course I wasn't laughing)

[Verse 3]
D A
He says, "You're causing us officers so much grief,
  D E A
Why don't you give us some relief?
D G D
Why don't you call the fire brigade?
      G A D
Or maybe why don't you try shovelling the smoke up the chimney with a spade."

[Verse 4]
D A
I borrowed a spade from the woman next door
    D E A
And I broke up the smoke that remained on the floor.
G D
I was shovelling away, till the closing of day
            G A D
and I was singing a smoke-shovelling song

[Verse 5]
D A
After working so hard I went out to my yard
    D E A
And I looked up to my chimney so long, (there was nothing to see there).
G D
Just a thousand foot high, way into the sky
        G A D
Was a pillar of smoke full of song.

[Middle 8]

               G A D
There was an aeroplane stuck in it, but I didn't notice at first
            G A D
It was so cunningly disguised as a dragon.

[Verse 6]
D A
Came the summer at last, though it was rainy and fast
      D E A
The pillar it melted away
G D
The aeroplane fell with a big smoky smell
G D
And echoing around all over the town,
          G A D
Were the words of the smoke shovelling song.

[Middle 8]
     G D
And anyone telling a bigger story would have to be telling a lie,
     G A D
And anyone thinking a bigger one up, have to be very high.
